SILVER COMET TRAIL SAFETY TIPS
1 - Always let someone know when you will be on the Trail, when you can be expected back, and what mile markers you will be between. 2 - Always be aware of your surroundings, including what major streets you are near and who is on the Trail around you. 3 - Always report any suspicious persons or events on the Trail no matter how small they may seem. 4 - Walk in pairs if you can. Use the buddy system. 5 - Walk with a dog (pet) if you can. 6 - Bike with a rearview mirror. 7 - Carry a whistle, mace, knife, stun gun or the like when on the Trail. 8 - Take a self defense class if necessary. Ladies, remember the elbow is the strongest part of your body. 9 - Carry a cell phone with you on the Trail and remember to charge the battery. 10 - Do "NOT" wear headphones that cover both ears. Remember, if you want to use the Trail but do not have someone who can join you, you can set up an event on www.meetup.com. Also, your local sheriff and police departments are here to help you.
